About The Position

The Instrument and Electrical Technician II/III supports installation, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems used in production equipment. The role ensures electrical and control systems operate safely and efficiently while meeting operational and quality standards. This position also functions as a Commissioning Electrician responsible for the safe startup and commissioning of large-horsepower electric compression systems used for lift-gas applications in unconventional onshore oilfield operations. The role requires strong technical expertise in electrical systems, controls, and drives, along with close coordination with OEM vendors and internal project teams to ensure proper installation, testing, and startup of high-power compression equipment.

Requirements

Associate degree preferred, supplemented by related technical training
Experience maintaining electrical systems and instrumentation in processing plants or offshore production facilities
Familiarity with regulations governing oil and gas facility operations
Knowledge of OIMS systems, manuals, and procedures
Meets safety, administrative, and technical training requirements outlined in the company operations training roadmap
Demonstrates required Operations Integrity Critical competencies

Active Texas Journeyman Electrical License (license number must be included with submittal)

Responsibilities

Plan, update, and oversee work activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and safety procedures with strong emphasis on health, safety, and environmental protection
Support collaboration between operations, engineering, and project teams
Review and provide input on control specifications and work practices
Maintain accountability for electrical and control systems as defined in the Work Management Manual
Apply and follow work permits through the Permit To Work System (PTWS)
Ensure timely and high-quality completion of work scheduled through the maintenance program
Continue development of personal and team technical skills related to equipment, regulations, and maintenance methods
Participate in and facilitate technical meetings to ensure technicians remain informed on procedures, specifications, and technology updates
Maintain open communication regarding electrical and control system issues including safety practices and training
Support work prioritization to maximize operational effectiveness and coordination between work groups
Provide technical troubleshooting and maintenance support to other technicians working on instrumentation and electrical systems
Generate Management of Change (MOC) requests for electrical or control equipment modifications and support installation inspections aligned with Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) Element 3
Inspect and monitor new installations to ensure compliance with operational standards and recommend improvements when needed
Serve as backup for the Instrument and Electrical Lead when required
Inspect electrical terminations and report issues to the project execution lead
Verify motor rotation and incoming voltage phase rotation for motors on compressor skids
Troubleshoot control circuits and assist with commissioning diagnostics
Verify adjustment and functionality of key interlocks prior to system energization
Conduct pre-task safety briefings and ensure safe work execution
Energize transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), and medium-voltage drives used in electric compression systems
Review and collect cable testing documentation
Record compressor, drive, and motor performance data during commissioning
Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) meetings and highlight unresolved punch-list items
