About The Position

D451 Instrumentation is looking for three technical aides to join our data acquisition team. The position requires candidates to apply electronics and digital system skills to computer-based test instrumentation and data acquisition systems. Job functions include the development, fabrication, installation, and operation of shipboard and laboratory test instrumentation. Specifically, the construction of instrumentation circuits, chassis, assemblies, and cabling for both COLUMBIA and VIRGINIA class submarines. Candidates will be required to install and verify the operation of instrumentation systems, interfaces, and fiber optic networking onboard submarines and in the associated test facilities. The ability to understand and follow official test procedures and related data recording requirements is critical, along with the ability to read and work to electrical schematics. General soldering techniques, ESD procedures, and building and repairing fiber optic and copper cables and connectors is also required. The successful candidate must communicate effectively and work within a high performing multi-disciplinary team. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Physically able to work in a shipyard/shipboard environment
  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience or training
  • Soldering experience
  • Fabrication and wiring of electronic test equipment enclosures/panels/chassis
  • Familiarity with ESD equipment and precautions
  • Operating general purpose laboratory equipment and data recorders
  • Copper and fiber optic cable termination
  • Checkout and installation of transducers, sensors, signal conditioning, and data acquisition systems
  • Working knowledge of computer equipment
  • Effective communicator
