About The Position

Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a full time Insurance Agency Manager to join our team at our Spokane location in Washington. What you will do: Responsible for the successful operations, growth and profitability of the agency. The products offered by the agency will include: personal and commercial lines, life insurance, fixed annuities, long term care and any other future products. Manage the development of insurance related operational plans and programs. Report agency progress to senior management, and provide input on industry changes that affect the growth and profitability of the agency. Prepare and present a detailed annual business plan, marketing plan and budget for approval. Research and evaluate new and existing insurance products and markets that may be beneficial to the bank. Maintain relationships with insurance carriers and continually monitor effectiveness and value of current carriers. Establish and service builders risk, life insurance and commercial customers. Monitor profitability of current carriers for annuity investment products. Meet regularly with senior managers, branch managers, department managers and individuals in the bank sales field to receive feedback on customer service levels of agency agents. Provide people leadership for Insurance Agency. Recruit and develop staff to ensure proper staffing levels to meet business goals. Ensure performance management reviews and individual development plans are completed on a consistent and timely basis. Review and monitor the total compensation (merit and incentive compensation) of the staff to ensure competitiveness with the marketplace. Create a desirable and rewarding environment where teamwork is rewarded and celebrate and individuals and teams are recognized for superior performance on a regular basis. Manager the sales performance of each insurance agent and take measures to improve and support as necessary. This includes observation on sales calls, coaching and recognition. Model sales processes and techniques as well as customer advocacy.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required.
  • 10 insurance and financial service industry, with at least 5 years in sales management experience in a banking environment required.
  • Broad experience in both the management and sale of insurance products.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex business problems while managing overall business line profitability.
  • Proven marketing experience in direct mail, telemarketing, and web based sales.
  • Securities and insurance licenses preferred.
  • Travel required: 0-10%
