About The Position

We are currently seeking an experienced Insurance Authorization Specialist to join our team at our Outpatient Physical & Occupational Therapy Business office in Sanford, Florida . JOB SUMMARY: Central Authorization Specialist carries out primary duties such as confirming when an authorization is applicable to New and Established patient visits. Will communicate daily with 23 locations as needed. Enter data accurately, timely, and completely. Serve as a valued member of our Pre-Registration Department. Demonstrates the ability to maintain good rapport with the public and all other personnel and clinical staff. Will also participate is special projects involving Front Office Quality Assurance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Ability to type at least 40-45 wpm.
  • 100% accuracy in data entry
  • Must have computer and research skills
  • Extensive knowledge insurance type coverage and policies
  • Must have the ability to work on and follow up with multiple tasks at once
  • Must be detail oriented and organized.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate well with public and other personnel in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Must have 2-3 years of experience
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Any employment offers are contingent upon a clear background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Revenue Cycle a plus

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for obtaining authorization as it applies to specific payor requirements, patient insurance coverage to ensure therapy treatment is covered for new patients for new and established patients.
  • Understand and articulate information to treating provider as needed
  • Enter data such as insurance authorization information into the patient account
  • The job requires extensive time on the phone and/or provider websites daily.
  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Be a valuable resource to Front Office Staff regarding authorizations
  • Protect PHI and follow HIPAA regulations
  • Run Daily and bi-weekly reports to prioritize the status of authorizations for completion.
