About The Position

Heartland Wealth Strategies is seeking a dedicated Insurance Specialist to play a pivotal role in providing expert advice, comprehensive coverage, and personalized solutions to our members in the Hutchinson, KS area. In addition to the many products and services offered by the credit union, Heartland Wealth Strategies is there to assess members' needs, recommend appropriate coverage options, and deliver exceptional service to ensure their peace of mind. As an Insurance Specialist with Heartland Wealth Strategies, you are an integral part of building relationships with credit union members by providing customized expert consultation for seniors and eligible beneficiaries to help them achieve better healthcare and financial security leading up to and during retirement years.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Life and Health Insurance license.
  • Previous sales experience preferred.
  • Professional and tactful.
  • Well-organized and attentive to detail.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to assist others.
  • Ability to understand legal and financial concepts.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of initiative to achieve goals.
  • Able to work well independently.
  • Strong sales/referral skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Flexible and open to change
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Sedentary work; stationary most of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with current or potential members, which may include seniors, retirees, and individuals with Medicare coverage and social security questions to better understand their healthcare needs.
  • Works closely with members to ensure coverage is maintained at appropriate levels. Offers advice and proposes changes as necessary.
  • Analyzes information obtained from interviews. Evaluates existing policies to determine their adequacy. Proposes appropriate policies to fulfill insurance needs.
  • Explains options, benefits, coverage levels, risks, exclusions, and costs. Answers questions as needed.
  • Handles the policy renewal process. Ensures information is communicated and necessary paperwork is completed.
  • Works with members during claim submission to ensure prompt and professional service. Coordinates with adjusters or claims personnel as needed.
  • Work with current and/or potential members to assess, enroll and answer any questions regarding life and long-term care insurance.
  • Actively prospecting for potential members through various methods, such as cold calling, networking, marketing and conducting sales presentations.
  • Works to achieve established sales goals. Employs effective sales techniques. Keeps accurate sales records and tracks progress.
  • Stay up-to-date and comply with all related regulations, policies, procedures and business practices.
  • Actively participate and represent Heartland in various community, civic, and professional organizations.
  • Maintains knowledge of credit union products and services.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Provides superior service to our members and staff.
  • Proactively supports and advances HCU's brand and culture platform.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
