About The Position

The primary responsibility of the Insurance Specialist is to accurately underwrite Personal Lines risks while serving as a first line of support to representatives on complex matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management and Insurance or pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management and Insurance required.
  • Minimum of 18 months of experience in a Personal Lines Contact Center or as an NJM Licensed Account Representative
  • Proficient in managing customer transactions across multiple lines, including automobile, property, and umbrella insurance
  • Strong understanding of personal lines insurance products and familiarity with underwriting principles
  • Fully proficient with NJM’s Personal Lines products, Policy Center, Billing Center, and departmental procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven leadership capability
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective conflict resolution and call control techniques
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing high quality customer service in a professional setting
  • Completion of general insurance courses such as AINS, AIS, API, or CPCU, are a plus
  • Property & Casualty Insurance License or Personal Lines Authority (The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Property & Casualty Insurance License as a condition of employment)

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and effectively underwrite all types of Personal Lines business in all states.
  • Provide support to internal customers regarding complex matters and escalated customer inquiries.
  • Support the department through participation in meetings, projects, and initiatives as assigned.
