About The Position

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to adolescents and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our three outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, we offer specialized treatment for active duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, specialized chemical dependency treatment and TMS therapy for chronic depression. The Intake Coordinator is responsible for coordinating aspects of the admissions process. This includes but is not limited to efficient and effective handling of inquiry calls, processing of referrals for possible admission, knowledge of and communication with referral sources and customers who present for assessment. Additional responsibilities include insurance verification/precertification, patient registration process, vitals, wanding, patient observations, scheduling of evaluations, admissions processing, bed board monitoring, belongings searches/inventorying, and other non-clinical duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's degree or Vocational/Technical School graduate preferred.
  • One year health care experience, preferably in a mental health setting required.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced Admissions Department.
  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts on an as needed basis.
  • Ability to pass an ACHA Level 2 Background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Acute behavioral health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between family, department, referral sources, agencies, schools and other interested parties.
  • Assure a safe, nurturing, clean, & supportive environment for patients, staff and guests.
  • Assist in the safe entrance into A&R by utilizing metal detector to scan all patients and accompanying friends/family.
  • Assist in managing incoming calls, faxes and referrals.
  • Assist with clerical duties such as faxing, copying, filing, and collating for department as needed.
  • Conduct telephone triage activities.
  • Maintain and complete all required forms including telephone inquiry forms and logs.
  • Conduct patient rounds and report deviations from the expectations and standard.
  • Provide hands-on physical care, supervision, crisis intervention, behavior management, & behavior modification as directed by the individual treatment plan & unit program guidelines.
  • Take and record vital signs, both manually and with equipment.
  • Orient patients to the facility with emphasis on procedures & standard practices.
