About The Position

The Legal Services for Entrepreneurs (LSE) program focuses on serving wealth-creating enterprises in historically excluded low-income communities. LSE provides free legal services to: 1) low-income individuals or people historically deprived of civil rights who want to start a business, 2) businesses investing in economically distressed communities, including creating employment opportunities for immigrants and people with law enforcement records, and 3) “mom and pop shops” located in areas where gentrification causes displacement. The primary responsibilities include client intakes, placements, and referrals; data entry and integrity; and coordinating and administering client access.

Requirements

  • At least one-year work-related experience in a nonprofit or legal setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including trauma-informed skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish (oral and written).
  • Excellent people skills including patience, flexibility and creativity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial and economic justice.
  • Ability to take initiative on projects and to improve systems.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to track and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in community organizing or providing community services, especially in low-income communities of color.
  • Prior experience working with volunteers.
  • Prior experience working on racial and/or economic justice issues.
  • Prior experience working with small businesses.
  • Prior experience using client management databases, especially Salesforce and LegalServer.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, coordinate, and conduct LSE client intakes and referrals.
  • Administer and coordinate LSE’s pro bono placement opportunities and pro bono attorney matching process.
  • Grant reporting and database/file management.
  • Training & Team Building
  • And other duties as assigned by Program Directors.
