About The Position

The Intensive Outreach Therapist will provide outreach, intake and mental health assessment services, individual and group therapy for individuals primarily who are homeless or have previously been homeless. This position is to assist client in maintaining enough stability with their housing so they can then focus on higher levels within Maslow’s hierarchy of needs including supported employment services. Hours of work are typically 8:30am to 5pm Monday through Friday with flexibility to meet program needs including evenings and weekends as needed. The position will be primarily in the community as outreach is required with some office hours required as well.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or psychiatric nursing.
  • Must be a certified QMHP with the MHACBO board.
  • Reliable transportation, current driver’s license with a clean driving record, and proof of auto insurance.
  • Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
  • Must pass criminal background and DMV checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Dual diagnosis (alcohol & drug and mental health) experience preferred.
  • LCSW, LPC or LMFT license strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with the homeless population, severe and persistent mental illness, or psychiatric hospitals preferred.
  • Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community is considered a plus.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, community, and staff members.
  • If in recovery, must have a minimum of two years sobriety/clean time.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intakes and mental health assessments for clients receiving supportive housing services at NARA NW.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Support clients in moving towards employment services if appropriate.
  • In collaboration with supportive housing staff, provide practical help and supports, mentoring, advocacy, coordination, side by side individualized support, problem solving, direct assistance and supervision to help clients obtain the necessities of daily living including medical and dental health care; legal and advocacy services; financial support such as entitlements (SSI, SSDI, veterans’ benefits); housing subsidies; money-management services (e.g. payee services); and transportation.
  • Serve as consultant and liaison with referral sources, other NARA NW staff, and treatment providers.
  • Complete written diagnostic assessments and impressions, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries and other documentation timely as required.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed including referral and follow up.
  • In collaboration with supportive housing staff, provide case management for clients including referrals, follow up, and outreach services as needed.
