The Manager of Critical Care and Dialysis is a registered professional nurse leader who has 24 hour accountability and responsibility for the patient care delivered in the intensive care and dialysis unit. This nurse manager holds staff accountable for the delivery of safe, fiscally responsible, and high quality nursing care through an integration of leadership that is closely woven through business skills and principles, communication and relationship building, knowledge of the health care environment, and professionalism. The ideal candidate actively solicits feedback, recognizes the contribution of mental models on behavior, and understands that leadership begins from within. They are capable of learning from failures and successes, recognize the role of belief, values, and influences on decision making, and remain curious and eager to explore. They seek coaching and mentorship from others, develop personal and professional career plans, measure progress and respond appropriately to the career opportunities before them. They believe that nurse managers are a life-long learner, participate in professional organizations, maintain nursing competency, and value national certification. As a people manager, they also prioritize self-care health behaviors through daily practices and routines, and practice healthy work-life integration.
