About The Position

Barge Design Solutions is seeking an Interior Designer to join our Architecture team. This position will be based in our Nashville, TN office and will be responsible for technical project planning, oversight, organization, technical design, preparation and production of reports, specs, and quality control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited program. Minimum of 4-8 years of architectural or interior design experience.
  • Other relevant education and experience may be considered aligning with National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) standards.
  • Certification from National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ)
  • Walk, sit, and stand. Occasionally reach with hands, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Occasionally climb 25-30 feet.
  • Occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. Visual acuity sufficient to read alpha/ numeric symbols for computation and design.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and respond effectively to project issues that arise.

Responsibilities

  • Supports PM providing technical leadership on conventional projects.
  • Interprets and develops design renderings for complex plans, presents to clients for approval, selects finishes, makes presentation boards, floor patterns, interior elevations details, finishes plans, signage plans, reflective ceiling plans, etc.
  • Coordinates documents with various areas including engineering and architects
  • Consults with local and federal jurisdictions about regulations and building codes.
  • Writes and reviews Interior Associates specifications, documents, drawings, etc. to produce various deliverables.
  • Designs, investigates, and recommends building systems and materials.
  • Works with mentees to critically think through current issues and develop alternative approaches for resolution. In addition, this role establishes relationships with mentees to assist exploring a mentee's strengths, talents and gifts while encouraging them to find means to exploring them within the company.
  • Participate in client meetings, as appropriate.
  • May assist in project scope and budget development, as well as, assisting in project design.
  • Conducts on-site visits to monitor progress of project.
  • Mentors and reviews work of more junior staff for quality purposes.
  • Technical lead on conventional projects.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
