About the position

PSE Group is seeking an Interior Designer for our Marshalltown store. Our interior designer works in the showroom, as well as, in customer homes and businesses to assist in selecting paint, flooring, and window treatments, create functional designs, and present plans that create aesthetically pleasing environments. The interior designer will also be involved in retail sales to walk-in customers across all departments. The interior designer will be skilled with color selections and familiar with home décor products, fashions, and trends. Our designer enjoys working around people and is passionate in providing a high level of customer service. All employees in our business work closely together; cooperation and good people skills are necessary. The interior designer will be expected to work between four and five days per week. A degree in Interior Design and work experience in the interior design field are preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Abide by all company safety regulations.
  • Perform counter sales serving in-store customers.
  • Perform customer service activities including receiving, entering of telephone orders, answering questions, tracking order status, & product shipments.
  • Perform onsite home or business consulting, measuring, calculations, and input of required product information for quotes and/or placement of orders.
  • Develop quotes, and skilled at setting costs and fees within budget.
  • Responsible for planning and cost estimates.
  • Reconcile inventory and stock merchandise in store.
  • Maintain customer records and files, including accurate account setup and pricing.
  • Mix/prepare paint for customer orders for delivery/pick-up.
  • Responsible for decorating with color, windows, and flooring.
  • Develop knowledge of all variations of flooring/tile/window coverings offered.
  • Develop knowledge base of additional and related products offered.
  • Receive and stock incoming inventory items appropriately.
  • Organize stock and maintain inventory.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with interior design or work in a related field.
  • Proven Math skills for measuring space and products.
  • Skilled with computers for order processing, drawing, and presentations.
  • Ability to lift/move 25-50 lbs.
  • Degree in Interior Design or related field preferred.
  • 3+ year(s) of Interior Decorating experience or work in a related field preferred.
  • Customer Service, Inside Sales, or Counter Sales experience.
  • Team player with great customer service skills.
  • High level of organizational and time management skills.
  • Clean driving record and valid license.
  • Candidates must submit to a drug screen and meet acceptable Motor Vehicle Report requirements upon hiring process.
