WSP’s Construction Materials Team is growing, and we have opportunity for an Intermediate Construction Materials Engineer to support our Charlotte, NC location. Your Impact Perform testing and special inspections related to soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry on general building sites and facilities Interpret and monitor work procedures as per project plans and specifications for compliance with projects requirements Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations in a timely manner. Support project management tasks such as scheduling, reports review, budget tracking, invoicing, proposal writing and business development Mentor early career construction material testing engineers. Collaborating tasks and supporting cross functional teams. Work in accordance with Company safety policies Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 2+ years of Construction Materials Testing experience
  • Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing)
  • Valid Driver’s License and Good driving History
  • Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Must pass physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
  • Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work
  • Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles
  • Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
