What You Will Do Support the prototyping and evaluation of Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) solutions within Technical Publications to improve quality, efficiency, and data consistency in a highly structured engineering documentation environment. This role will focus on hands-on model development, experimentation, and performance evaluation in a sandbox environment.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, or related technical field
  • Experience with Python programming
  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts
  • Ability to work with structured and semi-structured data
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data preprocessing and model evaluation techniques
  • Exposure to natural language processing (NLP) concepts
  • Familiarity with version control tools
  • Strong debugging and analytical skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic engineering environment
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

Responsibilities

  • Assist in development of AI/ML prototypes to support technical data analysis and process improvement
  • Work with structured technical data (e.g., XML-based documentation) to prepare datasets for analysis
  • Develop and test machine learning models for classification, pattern recognition, or anomaly detection
  • Evaluate model performance using measurable metrics (precision, recall, false positive rate)
  • Build scripts and tools to support exploratory data analysis and preprocessing
  • Support integration of AI-assisted outputs into a human-in-the-loop review workflow
  • Document model assumptions, limitations, and improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with technical publications, quality assurance, and engineering stakeholders to validate prototype outputs
