About The Position

Blue Ridge Bank (the “Bank”) is partnering with the Virginia Bankers Association (“VBA”) to offer high-impact summer internships designed for students who want real experience, real responsibility, and a real path into the banking industry. Through hands-on projects, in-person training, and exclusive networking events, interns will gain exposure to the world of community banking. This program is a strong fit for students who like working with numbers, solving problems, and using data to understand how businesses make decisions. Whether you're interested in credit analysis, financial reporting, data management, or commercial banking, strong quantitative skills will help you stand out and make an impact from day one. · Eligibility: Must be 18 years of age. · Work onsite for 40 hours a week, May 26– August 7. · Location: Richmond, VA Bayberry Office · Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer THERE ARE 3 INTERNSHIPS OPPORTUNITIES, PLEASE APPLY TO EACH IF INTERESTED IN MORE THAN ONE. The Bank’s Accounting & Finance department is responsible for maintaining the Bank’s books and records and producing financial reports, budgets, and other analyses that support the decision-making of the leadership team and board of directors.

Requirements

Excel proficiency — Familiarity with formulas, sorting/filtering, pivot tables, organizing data, etc..
Basic accounting and finance knowledge — General understanding of debits/credits, financial statements, and how transactions flow through accounts.
Attention to detail — Ability to spot discrepancies in reconciliations or reports.
Willingness to learn general ledger software and internal reporting tools.
Basic math and analytical skills — Ability to work with numbers accurately and interpret simple financial data.
Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or Data Analysis.
Introductory accounting classes covering debits/credits, ledgers, and financial statements.
Business or finance coursework that introduces how financial institutions operate.
Statistics or quantitative classes that support analytical thinking.
Excel based assignments that demonstrate comfort with organizing and analyzing data.

Responsibilities

Completing or assisting with daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations
Helping prepare internal financial reports
Updating spreadsheets and internal tracking tools
Reviewing reports for accuracy
Gathering documentation for audits or internal reviews
Analyzing financial results against budget
Other responsibilities, as assigned
Commitment to understanding the overall concept of the Bank, including the brand, customer, product goals, and all other aspects of service.
Accepts business-focus projects to research, propose ideas and solutions, and present final project during the internship.
Complete a capstone project and present it to bank leaders and external participants.
Provide suggestions to management for improving customer service and internal processes.
Learns and becomes proficient with the Bank’s software systems.
Attends all required in-person VBA hosted training and events including but not limited to, Intern Orientation: May 28 and the Mid-Summer meet up on July 7, 2026.
Other tasks as assigned.
