POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES: The Accounting Intern is responsible for performing a variety of accounting and accounts payable duties under the direct supervision of management. This is a paid internship slated to begin May 2026 and ending in May 2027. In addition, this position is 100% in office in Louisville, KY during the entire internship. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Requirements

  • Active pursuit of Business/Finance or related degree required.
  • Completion of basic Accounting classes required.
  • Cumulative GPA 2.5 or greater required.
  • Willing to work 40 hours during the summer months and up to 24 hours during the fall/spring semesters.
  • Strong MS Office skills including, but not limited to Excel (2010 and above), Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
  • Candidate should possess a natural curiosity for how banks work.
  • Must be comfortable around technology.
  • Candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Requires a high energy level and strong sense of urgency.
  • Meticulous to detail and extremely organized.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various general ledger and internal DDA reconciliations, work with accounting and various departments throughout the bank to research and resolve outstanding reconciling items.
  • Prepare various regulatory, financial, and management reports using data from various Accounting and Republic Bank core systems and MS Office applications.
  • Prepare manual general ledger journal entries and other account analysis to assist general accounting with daily and monthly accounting procedures.
  • Perform audit checks of SEC filings and other Financial Reports by tying out reported financials and ratios to core system data and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare purchasing requests, associate expense reports, and vendor invoices for processing to assist the purchasing and accounts payable team. Assist team with onboarding new associates and vendors, including updating training materials.
  • Communicate directly with internal and external customers to answer questions and resolve issues.
  • Update and document internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with company accounting policies.
  • Throughout the program year, you will benefit from continuous coaching, mentorship, and constructive feedback to support your professional growth.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of compliance requirements affecting your position and area of responsibilities and actively learn new regulations and assist in the implementation, if required.

  • Willingly perform all other duties and projects as assigned.
