Overview The Construction Intern assists in the construction of public and private Infrastructure projects. The Construction Manager works with other Construction Managers, Design Engineers, Project Managers, Practice Leader, and Market directors for civil engineering projects for the Aviation, Water, and Transportation Markets. This internship will be a full-time, 40 hours per week, Summer 2026 Internship (May-August). Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Construction Management Degree and / or Civil Engineering Degree ( currently enrolled )
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel.
  • Ability to deal effectively with people at all levels
  • Knowledge of construction management, inspections, methods and materials
  • Knowledge of contract administration and pay estimates
  • Knowledge of soil analysis, materials, compaction, and density tests
  • Knowledge of survey, drafting and engineering
  • Familiarity with construction observation reporting and procedures.
  • Good daily report writing and accurate quantity tracking ability.
  • Good communication skills with clients and staff.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
  • 10 Hour OSHA Construction Certificate or ability to obtain.
  • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites as well as comply with applicable safety codes and requirements.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to operate and manipulate standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to occasionally reach, bend, climb and/or balance.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting with construction management duties
  • Evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Applies professional judgment and discretion
  • Must consistently apply Woolpert procedures
  • Manage the inspections of construction projects and materials for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and approved construction plans/specifications
  • Reviewing and interpreting construction documents, site drawings, as-built drawings, and specifications
  • Capable of resolving minor issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
  • Communicate with contractors if test failures occur.
  • Produce daily and weekly reports
