Posting Close Date: 02/23/2026 THE OPPORTUNITY Ovintiv’s program is a comprehensive summer internship designed to provide a solid foundation of knowledge and experiential training while giving students the opportunity to apply what they are learning in school in a real-world setting. As an intern you will spend the summer working closely with an experienced mentor and be assigned a project and various other responsibilities intended to provide you with learning opportunities while delivering meaningful contributions to Ovintiv. Ovintiv is dedicated to ensuring the safety and health of our workforce and the communities in which we operate, and we are committed to environmental responsibility in all our endeavors. Interns in our EH&S group will have a role in helping to ensure that we meet these critical commitments, while learning at the same time. To ensure interns are given relevant, value-add and meaningful assignments, we do not create specific work assignments until a successful candidate is chosen. Some responsibilities of this role may include assisting in working on things such as field safety education/enhancement, field inspections of equipment, industrial hygiene, and incident investigations. You will also have the opportunity to get hands-on experience in all facets of the upstream oil and gas industry, at all stages of the development lifecycle. Examples of recent projects include: Analyzing process safety data through the Incident Management System (IMS) to determine high risk factors and provide tactical leading indicators. Conducting risk assessments and identify appropriate levels of risk controls in support of operational activities. This includes field spot checks and effective collaboration with operational teams. Aid in rollout and success of new systems (such as real time digital monitoring, in-vehicle monitoring, etc.) Updating management system practices based on field level input and changes in regulatory requirements. Assessed SIF prevention program uptake and gathered suggestions for improvement.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student through December 2026.
  • Reside or willing to reside in Midland, TX.
  • Must be available May 18 – August 7, 2026.
  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health, fire protection, or a closely related science or engineering program.
