Purpose To provide MPH students with hands-on experience in occupational health within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, supporting workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and employee wellness initiatives in a high-risk industrial setting.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be currently enrolled in a Masters of Public Health degree program
  • Candidate must currently have GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Strong proficiency in Excel
  • Demonstrated initiative, independence, and strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Responsibilities

  • Data analysis: Collect and interpret workplace injury/illness data specific to pharmaceutical manufacturing operations to identify trends and recommend interventions.
  • Program evaluation: Measure the effectiveness of occupational health and safety programs, including hazard communication, respiratory protection, and ergonomics initiatives.
  • Education and training: Develop materials on PPE use, chemical safety, ergonomics, and stress management for employees in manufacturing and research facilities.
  • Policy support: Review workplace practices for OSHA, NIOSH, and FDA compliance, and assist in drafting occupational health policies for industrial operations.
  • Wellness initiatives: Design programs to reduce risks of chronic disease, fatigue, and mental health concerns among employees working in high-demand industrial settings.
