Pay Grade Temporary Position Summary The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry’s rapidly changing workforce needs by providing local San Antonio high school students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to perform, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used. The Desktop team builds and configures new and used PCs for field deployment. The intern will be assisting Desktop staging with supporting the organizations technology needs. This will include setting up, deploying, and maintaining Desktops, Laptops, Monitors and PC Accessories along with installing base images and specialized software by request. Requirements

  • Must be a current high school student.
  • Must be a minimum age of 16.
  • Must reside within 120 miles of CPS Energy Headquarters.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, coordinating with other areas to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for interaction with all levels of personnel.
  • Basic analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail, and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate an interest in a career applicable to the utility industry.
  • Participate in full-time employment with CPS Energy.
  • Attend all activities sponsored by CPS Energy during employment.
  • Pass a drug test and background screen prior to employment with CPS Energy.

Nice To Haves

  • IT Certifications
  • Interested in studying an IT related 2- or 4-year degree
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0

Responsibilities

  • Unboxing and configuring new equipment.
  • Installing and configuring software.
  • Deploying computer hardware and accessories.
  • Talking to customers in person or on the phone.
  • Addressing problem tickets and documenting resolutions.
