About The Position

Hennepin County District Court is pleased to offer an excellent opportunity for a candidate seeking practical, professional work experience in a government organization. The selected candidate will provide support for two different teams: Human Resources (HR) and Inclusion & Development (I&D). This position is part of a cohort of summer internship positions with District Court and will participate in professional development trainings, as well as opportunities to learn about the work of the courts and HR/I&D’s role in supporting the court's mission, vision, and values. This position is classified as an Intern, with a working title of Human Resources/Inclusion & Development Intern. This is a temporary position for the Summer of 2026, with an expected start date on or near June 2, 2026, and an anticipated end date of August 28, 2026. Standard business hours for District Court are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, with required hours every other Monday and Thursday from 7:30 am to 2:30pm. Candidates interested in part-time positions will also be considered. Scheduled work hours for this position will be finalized between the candidate and supervisor. This position is located at the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis. This position will work primarily onsite, with the occasional opportunity to work remotely, according to business need. A reliable internet connection will be required if working remotely.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in high school, vocational or technical school, college, or university for the upcoming Summer-Fall 2026 and/or Spring 2027 term(s).
  • Be 18 years of age or older by 06/02/2026.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of individuals and groups in a professional setting.
  • Ability to maintain clerical records and confidentiality standards
  • Ability to learn routine rules of court, state statutes, court and office policies and procedures of the area assigned.
  • Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with instructions and regulations.
  • Ability to professionally exhibit cultural sensitivity, patience, and understanding in the course of work duties.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively including planning, organizing, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to provide customer service to all court divisions while complying with court policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using design software such as Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, or similar programs.
  • Experience using electronic document applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, or Adobe Acrobat, with the ability to learn other, job-related software.

Responsibilities

  • Support aspects of staff training programs including advertising, registration, and set up.
  • Assist with creating and updating internal procedures and support documents.
  • Support aspects of staff training events and programming through onsite set up, preparing physical materials, and sending communications to registrants and participants using current templates.
  • Track and update reports related to training attendance, training events, and onboarding related tasks
  • Assist with questions and support tickets/requests received from staff.
  • Support the transition to a new Information System through data entry and quality assurance.
  • Review SharePoint sites, provide suggestions, and propose content updates.
  • Support Inclusion and Development efforts in the district; support may include drafting and/or reviewing materials and supporting discussions/meetings.
