Job Description The Power Hardware Development Intern will report to a Manager of Electrical Engineering and be part of the Low Voltage Drives development team in Mequon, WI. In this role, you will work under the guidance of a Principal Engineer on a Hardware Research and Development project in Power Electronics, with exposure to design process, design tools (simulation, analysis), prototype construction, HV laboratory testing (including instrumentation use, data capture and post-processing, troubleshooting), and reporting on progress to a larger team of Hardware engineers. You will also be provided opportunities to interact with cross-functional teams such as functional disciplines like Firmware and Test, Quality, Certification, Industrialization, and Product Management. You will be required to produce a final report of work accomplished, and present to the global power Hardware team on key findings, and scope for future work.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelors or an advanced degree from an accredited college or university with a background in Power Electronics.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing an advanced degree from an accredited college or university with a background in Power Electronics.
  • Academic background in power electronics systems for AC-DC, DC-AC and DC-DC conversion
  • 1 or more years of experience in a previous internship position or part of a graduate degree program at an accredited college or university
  • Hands-on experience in a high voltage laboratory
  • Basic experience with the use of circuit simulation and engineering design software tools like SPICE, MatLAB

Responsibilities

  • Create laboratory setups, run development and qualification tests, capture data for analysis of performance and compliance to design requirements
  • Troubleshoot printed circuit board assemblies, make modifications (component replacement, soldering), test
  • Use laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, voltage and current probes, frequency analyzers to make measurements
  • Create test reports and present to team members for review
