About The Position

The Easton Coherent SiC LLC quality department manages and controls the quality of all manufacturing process in our silicon carbide (SiC) manufacturing plant. Our department also is a leader of the quality controls for metrology of our SiC wafer and SiC boules for our 4 additional world-wide semiconductor manufacturing plants. This intern will learn how our semiconductor manufacturing plant works and how a quality department can operate to monitor and improve the measurements (metrology) that our business uses to measure and control the most key metrics for quality of our SiC wafer products. This intern will also learn how to use JMP to perform and analyze Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility Studies and to leverage these studies to analyze and understand metrology measurement errors and tolerances. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented " Metrology Alignment Program Quality Engineering Intern " to join our Quality department for Summer 2026. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in practical statistical analyis of state-of-the-art semiconductor metrology, work alongside industry professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects that support our team and company objectives.

Requirements

  • Education Level Required: at least 3 years toward a Bachelor's (ideally BS) degree
  • That is a rising senior (completed 3 years by start or internship)
  • Majors: science, statistics or engineering. Must have a major in science or engineering with a statistics minor or major statistics with a science or engineering minor
  • Relevant coursework or experience in using JMP or Minitab is key.
  • Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and time management.
  • Solid experience and capabilities with Excel, and with either JMP or Minitab
  • Internship Duration: 10 – 14 weeks.
  • All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. EHS standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GRR) Studies
  • Use our JMP statistical analysis software to do these GRR Studies
  • Team collaboration, data entry, reporting, etc.
  • Collect and distribute samples to others
  • Learn how to take measurements of some key metrics for quality of our SiC wafer products.
  • Report on these Gauge R&R studies at the end of the internship program
