We’d love to have you bring your energy and perspective to our team. The Radiology Coding Analyst Intern plays a critical role in supporting accurate and compliant coding practices within radiology. This position involves assisting staff in drafting coding reports for Clinical Examples in Radiology , analyzing coding and payment policy regulations, and providing coding guidance to members. The ideal candidate will have a background in regulatory analysis and technical writing.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Health Sciences or a related field.
  • Enrolled full-time and carrying a 3.0+ GPA
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in medical coding, regulatory analysis, or technical writing is a big plus!
  • Medical coding involves reviewing clinical documentation and working with healthcare regulations, NOT writing software, programming, or building apps.

Responsibilities

  • Coding Report Development: Assist in reviewing coding reports and drafting related article(s) for Clinical Examples in Radiology . Ensure reports reflect current coding guidelines, including newly added, revised, and deleted Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) codes and their descriptors.
  • Regulatory Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of coding and payment policy regulations, including CMS and AMA guidelines. Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on radiology coding practices.
  • Member and AMA Support: Research and draft responses to coding-related inquiries from AMA staff and ACR members. Provide clear, accurate, and timely guidance on complex coding scenarios.
  • Code Change Review: Evaluate code change applications (CCA) for accuracy. Collaborate with staff and CPT doctors to provide feedback and recommendations.
  • CMS NCCI Edit Review: Review proposed CMS National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits. Draft and submit comment letters when necessary.

Benefits

  • Interns work a 32.5 hour hybrid work week, from 5/18/26 – 8/7/26, with every Friday afternoon off!
  • Depending on class level, a reasonable estimate of the hourly compensation range for this position is $19.00 – $23.00.
