About The Position

This application is for a 12-week internship role from June - August 2026. Resume review begins in January 2026. The Real World Data Analytics (RWDA) team is the analytic core of a wide array of cross-collaborative projects at Biogen. It oversees and analyzes more than 30 real world data assets (e.g., electronic health records, claims, disease registries, etc.) and executes studies that enhance the understanding of treatment effectiveness, patient journeys and other health outcomes. RWDA engineers the accessibility of this data across multiple compute environments, one of which includes the Databricks platform. Databricks is the most utilized in the RWDA day to day work and optimizes data ingestion and analysis by offering fast paced processing and coding in a variety of languages (e.g., SQL, Python). There is a want within the Biogen organization to democratize data access and interpretation, among users that are not as knowledgeable about coding and data structure. The AI features within Databricks promise to assist with this need. What You’ll Do: As an intern, you will investigate and present findings on a research question using real world / observational data. You will design and build patient cohorts, and report analysis results (e.g., tables, figures, visualizations) using standard coding language. With that knowledge, you can then explore options to integrate the use of AI into those analyses in beneficial ways. Databricks is a platform rich in AI opportunities ranging from suggested ways to write code, to prompt engineering, to ML/AI models and model management and more. You will interpret the results of the original analyses at a high level, but then also summarize the opportunities with AI which were explored and how well they worked with recommendations for the future.
