About The Position

WEC Energy Group is seeking a Renewables Engineering Intern starting May 2026. This position can be located within a reasonable drive to any of our WEC Energy Group locations in WI, IL, IA, SD, NE, and KS, depending on experience. This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time spent in the office. The starting hourly rate for this position is $22.00 with paid company holidays. This internship is full-time during the Summer of 2026 with the potential to work part-time during the fall. Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or HSED
Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering degree with a graduation date after June 2026.
Minimum GPA of 2.8
Valid Driver's License

Nice To Haves

Interest in Renewables, specifically PV Solar applications, including any course work or involvement within the field
Experience working in a hybrid setting
Sophomore standing or higher is preferred

Responsibilities

Support PV Solar projects, including observing field activities, updating equipment records, and focusing on operational performance and optimization of solar sites.
Support wind project operational performance and optimization.
Review and revise technical documentation and drawings.
Perform ad hoc investigations of emergent equipment issues.
Use available data to investigate performance or reliability issues within the solar and wind fleets.
Provide general engineering support to PG-Renewables group
Track ongoing tasks across sites and support engineers and supervisors
Drive continuous improvement by researching emerging utility solar trends.
Alternate between remote and office work as needed (hybrid setting)
Travel to generation sites in remote locations in WI, MI, IA, or IL
