About The Position

The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Dallas-Fort Worth region, which is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States. The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking a summer Intern to provide support with transportation technology and innovative initiatives. The student in this position will assist with collecting, organizing, and analyzing information related to transportation technology projects and assist with developing insights, reports, and presentations to support regional technology planning and deployment efforts in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Ideal candidates should live within the Dallas-Fort Worth Region and be able to work at least 20 - 25 hours a week from approximately mid-May to mid-August 2026. Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Basic knowledge of GIS or other data and visualization tools
  • Good communication, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills, with ability to listen to instructions, coordinate with other team members, and present ideas
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to handle multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline driven environment without diminishing quality of work
  • Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program during employment
  • No work experience required

Responsibilities

  • Working with supervisor to maintain and update records for active and planned transportation technology projects across the region
  • Assisting with the Call for Projects process and working with supervisor to coordinate meetings; prepare agendas, presentations, and materials; track action items, and support coordination with internal staff and partner agencies
  • Working with supervisor to support the setup and coordination of transportation technology projects once identified
  • Assisting with research and review of transportation technology deployments in other parts of the country to identify best practices or initiatives relevant to the region
  • Drafting and preparing documents such as presentations, public outreach content, and other materials for supervisor review
