About The Position

This part-time internship is a hybrid role located in Indianapolis, IN and will be 10 hours per week. You will report to the State Director, Indiana. Common Cause is seeking an intern to work with our team in Indiana relating to voting and elections, redistricting, and democracy reform. Interns will assist with advocacy campaigns, grassroots engagement, research, policy development, communications, and/or member outreach and events. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a commitment to a fair and transparent democracy, and who is interested in learning more about government affairs and the legislative process.

Requirements

  • A passion for learning about elections, organizing, and the legislative process
  • A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner
  • A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A willingness to build your writing and listening skills
  • A willingness to learn new skills

Responsibilities

  • Conducting legislative research and policy tracking
  • Supporting campaigns on redistricting, voting rights, and campaign finance reform
  • Preparing written materials, testimony, and communications for public and legislative audiences
  • Assisting with grassroots and coalition engagement activities
