About The Position

The Compliance Team Summer Internship Program is scheduled for 10 weeks and will include a variety of projects. This opportunity will develop your legal and analytical skillset and expose you to a comprehensive and dynamic health care compliance program. It will also give you the chance to see if DaVita and the health care space are a good fit for your long-term goals. The Compliance Team is responsible for helping DaVita succeed and grow in a manner that complies with all applicable laws and regulations, is responsible and consistent with the Company’s values and high ethical standards, and protects and enhances our reputation and other assets. The Compliance Team is responsible for implementing all seven elements of an effective compliance program as laid out by OIG. While the Compliance Team has many lawyers on it and works very closely with our legal partners, the Compliance Team is not part of the legal department and would be considered a JD advantage career. The Compliance Team Summer Internship is based at DaVita’s headquarters in Denver, CO. Candidates are expected to follow a hybrid work structure and come into the office at least two days a week. Students who accept the internship position are responsible for housing costs. During your internship appointment you will work closely with experienced compliance professionals on projects that may include the following:

Requirements

  • Candidates must be current law students (full-time or part-time) pursuing a J.D. degree and returning to school in Fall 2026.
  • Candidates must be team players with the ability to work independently.
  • Candidates must be available for the full 10 week internship.
  • Candidates must be willing to follow a hybrid work environment.
  • Candidates should have proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing regulatory and compliance risks under Federal laws such as the Anti-Kickback Statute, the False Claims Act, and Beneficiary Inducement Statute.
  • Reviewing contracts for various compliance requirements.
  • Assisting in compliance monitoring functions by analyzing data and performing testing against applicable policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Analyzing and improving compliance education tools, trainings, policies, and procedures.
  • Accurately updating and maintaining contract databases.
