About The Position

This part-time internship is a hybrid role located in Boston, MA and will be 20 hours per week. You will report to the State Director, Massachusetts. This internship will run from June 1-August 15. Common Cause is seeking an intern to work with our team in Massachusetts relating to voting and elections, redistricting, and democracy reform. In this role you will assist with advocacy campaigns, grassroots engagement, research, policy development, communications, and/or member outreach and events. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a commitment to a fair and transparent democracy, and who is interested in learning more about government affairs and the legislative process.

Requirements

  • A passion for learning about elections, organizing, and the legislative process
  • A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner
  • A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A willingness to build your writing and listening skills
  • A willingness to learn new skills

Responsibilities

  • Supporting volunteer outreach and coalition engagement efforts
  • Conducting legislative research and tracking policy developments
  • Assisting with communications and election protection efforts
  • Drafting policy and advocacy materials for community audiences
