The Role City & State is seeking a curious, independent, and driven editorial intern to join our editorial team. From day one, you’ll take on serious stories about the people who call the shots in New York. Previous interns have interviewed candidates for governor [https://www.cityandstateny.com/personality/2022/06/jumaane-williams-isnt-worried-about-state-governors-race/367683/], tracked legislation [https://www.cityandstateny.com/policy/2022/03/here-are-sexual-harassment-bills-still-being-debated-new-york/363379/] and held officials accountable [https://www.cityandstateny.com/politics/2023/06/some-nyc-council-members-didnt-disclose-their-free-tour-israel/387391/]. You’ll be part of the team as we cover the 2026 primaries and the first year of the Mamdani administration, and you’ll be an essential voice in editorial discussions and pitch meetings. This is a paid, three-month, part-time (about 16 hours per week) internship beginning in June 2026. This internship will be hybrid, with in-person reporting and work at our Manhattan office encouraged. This internship pays $20 per hour.
