About The Position

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Internal Communications & Experience Specialist to support our People Team. The Internal Communications & Experience Specialist plays a key role in shaping how employees experience Topstep every day. This role operates with the mindset and impact of driving clarity, connection, and culture across all Topstep entities. This role ensures employees understand company priorities, feel informed, and are inspired to engage through consistent, transparent, and creative communication. In this role, the Internal Communications & Experience Specialist will possess strong attention to detail and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. With a people-first mindset and a friendly, professional demeanor, they excel at building positive relationships across all levels of the organization. They are adaptable, tech-savvy, and eager to learn, with a continuous improvement mindset. This is a hybrid role requiring regular onsite work in our Chicago office during the week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communications, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in an internal communication support role or employee experience role.
  • Experience writing for multiple audiences and communication channels.
  • Proficiency in systems (e.g., Slack, Notion, Workvivo, Intranet).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to solve practical problems via a logical, analytic approach.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of electronic equipment, intermediate PC skills, knowledge of internet software, and proficiency. Familiarity with Google Drive and Google Docs is a must. Computer experience/operation is required. Must have the ability to operate general office equipment.
  • Ability to multitask. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to work under dynamic schedule constraints and consistently meet deliverable timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in driving clarity, connection, and consistency across every internal message at Topstep.
  • Assist with optimizing Topstep’s internal channels (Slack, Notion, Workvivo, Intranet).
  • Assist with employee engagement, life events, & event planning.
  • Work closely with People Ops on SOPs, internal documents, engagement data, Anniversary, Birthday, Recognition programs, and Milestone communications.
  • Manage internal communication calendars and ensure timely delivery of updates.
  • Support projects and initiatives to improve employee experience and organizational effectiveness.
