About The Position

Reporting to the Regional Transportation Manager, as a key member of the Internal Fleet Leadership Team, the Internal Fleet Transportation Supervisor supervises fleet operations for Fuel South Express, Circle K’s proprietary fleet. The desired candidate will oversee the daily transport operational activity within the Northern Tier (Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin). They will be responsible for the supervision of the transportation team, fleet equipment, and garage activities. Partners with the Manager to ensure the fleet is staffed with required driver levels to maintain optimum fuel inventories, service levels, arbitrage value capture, and delivered freight costs by analyzing individual and team performance, systems capabilities, sales trends, and market conditions. Day-to-day work location may vary as needed due to observations/training and engagement within the wider Circle K Fleet Organization. The position includes, but is not limited to, the following essential job duties, responsibilities, and requirements: Operational responsibility for the Hazmat tanker vehicle fleet, drivers, and maintenance. Will be responsible for ensuring ELD hours are compliant in line with DOT regulations and the working time directives within each terminal(s). Will proactively manage health and safety issues and ensure legal compliance with the internal fleet. Will oversee day-to-day challenges including systems, vehicle maintenance, access to sites, adverse weather, and traffic conditions that may require immediate resolution to maintain service integrity. Participates in recruitment, training, and day-to-day supervision of drivers. Ensures that the drivers are operating safely and in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. Manage staffing levels to ensure effective resource management of the driver pool to avoid a reduction in service level causing site stockouts. Ensure that new hires are adequately trained and fit for the job. Will ensure that conflicts are handled and resolved as they occur so that every staff member has a productive and healthy work environment. Assists fuel dispatch in ensuring that there is enough driving capacity each day/week to meet the required demand. Responsible for creating production plans for the team of drivers each week/month (Driver scheduling). Coordinate with the offshore distribution planning teamand local management. Responsible for the performance of the drivers on key metrics including driver utilization, deadhead, and driver HSE & compliance. Will ensure equipment optimization and uptime to drive further efficiencies into the fleet. Manage the telematics systems to deliver desired KPIs and overall understanding within the driver fleet. Will have on-call responsibility and management of out-of-hour incidents. Partner with management on HSSE and compliance responsibility for trucks and drivers and operations and functions related to this. (Requirement, Coaching, Training, Observation, and Disciplinary actions if needed) Ensure full compliance with DOT and in-house fleet management system and corporate guidelines. Ensure the fleet is operating safely and in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. Responsible for observations and compliance with Fleet SOP. Drive continuous improvement concerning cost-efficient operation. Works closely with the project and development department and secures compliance with the use of IT systems and tools.

Requirements

  • Requires 5 years of experience working with fuel distribution as a driver or manager and 3 years of fleet supervisory experience.
  • Ability to learn and use a variety of systems and applications required for the role.
