About The Position

The Communications Intern, Universal Orlando Resort Internal Communications, supports the team’s communications and social media efforts across all channels. They will help produce content promoting company recruitment efforts and strengthening Team Member engagement/retention/recognition. By contributing to a variety of company updates, engaging storytelling, operational excellence and talent acquisition campaigns, the intern helps strengthen Universal Orlando Resort’s employer brand and overall company reputation. The intern contributes to timely business alerts, operational messaging, editorial stories, digital and physical signage updates, internal emails and social media content for LinkedIn (Universal Orlando Resort), Instagram (@UOTMLife) and Facebook (Universal Orlando Careers). They gain hands‑on experience learning how messages and stories move through the internal communications ecosystem and cross-functional approval process Learning goals include: - Internal communications: How to develop clear, timely messages for Team Members through channels like Team Universal (company intranet), email and digital/physical signage. - Social media strategy: How to plan, create and publish content tailored to each platform, audience and business priority. - Editorial storytelling: Researching stories, interviewing Team Members, writing short-and long-form copy and applying AP style. - Content production: Support with photography, videography, editing and simple graphic design for both internal channels and social media. - Digital signage operations: Exposure to scheduling, rotating and updating Team Member-facing signage across the resort. - Channel operations and routing: Understanding workflow, approvals, version control and intake processes. - Analytics: Introduction to social media and communication channel analytics, including how to read performance insights and apply learnings. Collects and compiles monthly analytics reports to help drive channel planning and strategy. - Collaboration and project support: Working with partners across the resort including but not limited to: Corporate Communications, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Team Member Experiences and Operations, etc. This internship provides a full academic year of practical experience in social media, internal communications and employer brand storytelling.

Requirements

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Junior or above.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required. A transcript is required upon application.
  • Working toward a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Fine Arts, Marketing, Advertising, Telecommunications, Hospitality, Business, Human Resources or Creative Writing.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills with the ability to draft concise, audience‑focused copy.
  • Organized, detail‑oriented and comfortable managing deadlines.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Interest in storytelling, communications and content creation.
  • Consistent attendance is a job requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Content creation and storytelling:
  • Write short- and long-form copy for social channels, intranet articles, emails, signage and other Internal Communications content.
  • Research, pitch and develop story ideas.
  • Support photo and video shoots, including capturing basic assets, assisting on site and preparing content for publishing.
  • Create simple graphics using Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Social media support:
  • Plan and create content for LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.
  • Draft captions in AP style, prepare alt text, edit short-form videos and assemble visual packages.
  • Help maintain a social media content calendar and support scheduling and publishing.
  • Internal Communications channel support:
  • Assist with preparing and routing content for Team Universal (company intranet), email and operational messaging.
  • Support creation and scheduling of digital and physical signage, including updating rotation logs and checking for accuracy.
  • Help submit and track requests with publishing partners.
  • Community management and inbox monitoring:
  • Support monitoring of comments, messages and Team Member feedback across social media and email.
  • Draft responses for review and escalate items to the team when appropriate.
  • Analytics and reporting
  • Pull basic performance metrics from native analytics tools and Sprinklr.
  • Help build simple reports and share insights about content performance, trends and opportunities.
  • Project and administrative support
  • Manage intake requests, track tasks and deadlines and keep assets organized.
  • Assist with scheduling, logistics and documentation for content shoots or events.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Internal Communications team.
  • Quality and compliance
  • Follow AP style, brand voice and approved nomenclature.
  • Support usage rights, releases, privacy and safety steps for content creation.
  • Follow established UDX Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures.
