About The Position

Intern will learn how to utilize their engineering courses in real life situations whether that will be checking stress calculations, reviewing mechanical drawings, studying mechanical elements in previous attractions or identifying potential hazards of Ride/Show equipment. Intern may provide assistance in writing technical requests for proposals and evaluating technical proposals. They will learn how to communicate technical information with team members of a wide variety of backgrounds. The role will aid the Intern in becoming a more well-rounded engineer enhancing both their technical and soft skills. Intern will be able to further their knowledge in show systems, animation, and themed entertainment.

Requirements

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Sophomore or above.
  • Minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA is required.
  • A transcript is required upon application.
  • Interns must be currently pursuing a degree at an accredited university, and must have a graduation date later than December 2026.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred majors include: Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or similar.
  • Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge reading technical drawings.

Responsibilities

  • A varying combination of engineering tasks including technical analysis, statistical evaluation, engineering testing, data reduction, simulation, technical writing, and literature search/research
  • Project execution and management tasks that may include supporting a capital project team in design, testing, delivery, and or commissioning
  • Development of specifications, standards, practices, and guidelines contributing to governance within E&S and or the broader Amusement Rides and Devices Industry.
  • Performs portion of attraction concept and preliminary design reviews.
  • Engages in engineering design, analysis, and management learnings that may include structural calculations, statistical analysis, FMEA, FTA, testing, programming, CAD/Solidworks design and modeling.
  • Supports with engineering tasks, 3D design, analysis of mechanical and mechatronic systems. Focuses on Program Management strategies.
  • Attends meetings and design reviews in support of global projects.
  • Assists with mock-ups, demonstrations, and tangible equipment.
  • Observes field installations, troubleshoots, and proposes design changes.
  • Assists department with auditing, reviewing existing or newly commissioned attraction ride systems and components.
  • Assists with quarterly safety reports, data collection and reduction, near term design and testing, and surgical strike project team support in scoping and contracting, engineering review, erection, and testing.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
