About The Position

Established in 1963, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a non-profit corporation guided by a student board and managed by full-time professional staff. ASI is a part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs with a dashed reporting line to Administrative Affairs. ASI serves the entire campus population, including over 26,000 students, by providing opportunities for student engagement, student employment, and a multitude of programs and services such as recreation and wellness, student union and activities, student government, and childcare. ASI operational support areas include human resources, financial services, information technology, facilities management, and marketing. ASI employees exhibit our values of integrity, honor, dedication, loyalty, and respect in every interaction with each other, our students, the campus community, and guests of Cal Poly Pomona.   The Intramural Sports program strives to provide opportunities for the campus community to participate in over 20 different sports in a dynamic, fun, and recreational environment. Approximately 1,200-1,500 students participate in Intramural Sports leagues and tournaments each semester, including Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Flag Football, Softball, Tennis, Badminton, and more. The Intramural Sports Program employs about 60 students annually as Officials, Lead Officials, Assistant Supervisors, and Supervisors.  POSITION DEFINITION Under minimal supervision from the Competitive Sports Manager, the Intramural Sports Supervisor provides programmatic oversight and supervision and directly support the Competitive Sports Coordinator in program development and implementation. The Intramural Sports Supervisor performs routine and complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge, prior relevant experience, and considerable independent judgment and decision-making. 

Requirements

  • American Red Cross Responding to Emergencies and American Red Cross Administering Emergency Oxygen, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications within30 daysof employment (training provided by ASI) 
  • Outstanding customer service skills and related work experience 
  • Ability to lead staff that can bedemonstratedthroughprevioussupervisory experience 
  • Strong conflict resolution skills 
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations 
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions 
  • Ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing 
  • Ability tomaintainprofessional work conduct 
  • Ability to make independent decisions and make recommendations 
  • Ability to adhere to work rules, follow directions, use time effectively and work productively without close supervision 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population and campus community 
  • Ability tooperatea computer workstation using word processing,spreadsheetand other computer applications 
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete a background check (including a criminal records check)

Responsibilities

  • Assistwith the overall management of the Intramural Sports program.
  • Assistwith recruitment, training, scheduling,supervisionand evaluation of Intramural Sports staff.
  • Assistwith program and services development and implementation.
  • Enforce rules and regulationsregardinguseof the Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex (BRIC).
  • Provide emergency care and treatment asrequireduntil the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Present professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintain a high standard of customer service.
  • Prepare andmaintainappropriate activityreports.
  • Attend andassistin development and execution of orientations andtrainings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
