The position helps regulate control of consumable and non-consumable inventory goods including but not limited to uniforms & PPE (Personal Protective Equipment or Bunker Gear), medical supplies, station and cleaning supplies and any other supplies or service needs. The incumbent works with the Quartermaster and reports to the Business Services Manager. Work is performed with extensive latitude for innovation and independent judgment and is reviewed through staff meetings, inspections, and observation.

Requirements

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
  • Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience: At least 2 years’ experience in equipment stock work including purchasing and warehousing.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of methods and procedures for acquiring, receiving, storing, and issuing parts and supplies.
  • Basic math Knowledge of personal computers.
  • Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; use stockroom equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Work in conditions common to automotive shop and warehouse.
  • Lift, move, carry, and store materials and supplies.
  • Skills: Skilled in procuring parts, materials, and supplies.
  • Licenses, Certificates, and/or Equipment Required: Colorado driver's license with a good driving history.
  • Physical Demands: Heavy physical work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 100 pounds with or without assistance. Frequently lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Considerable walking and standing. Frequent pushing, pulling, and climbing. Hand/eye and hand/foot coordination for operation of office and warehouse equipment including forklift. Speech communication and hearing to take telephone orders and radio communication. Vision to read parts manuals, invoices and related documents and operate equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of fire station materials and supplies preferred but not required.
  • Small engine and tool repair is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accountability for AFR equipment and medical supplies
  • Compiles daily requests for inventory goods, medical supplies, and supplies to fire stations
  • Delivers and retrieves supplies, correspondence, and small equipment from administrative HQ, fire stations, training center, vendors, etc.
  • Issues fire equipment and uniforms to fire department personnel as required
  • Distributes medical supplies, maintains inventory records, provides reports of medical supply orders
  • Rotates medical supplies based on product expiration dates to take full advantage of the inventory and reduce costs
  • Performs clerical duties related to maintaining supply inventory, reporting and billing; operates a computer with various software systems
  • Monitors warehouse supplies to maintain appropriate inventory level
  • Stocks warehouse shelves and maintains clean and orderly storage area
  • Unloads trucks and checks inventories for discrepancies
  • Makes minor repairs on equipment
  • Corresponds both verbally and in writing with appropriate individuals regarding the status of requisitions and orders of supplies or small equipment
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
