About The Position

Perform inventory management and other Logistics department duties for Charlotte Douglas International Airport. This work may include various warehouse and procurement responsibilities for the Facilities department. This role will require the use of the City of Charlotte’s Munis financial system and the use of the Aviation department’s Cityworks Asset Management system. The role will require someone with experience operating in computer- based systems and warehouse storage facilities. Primary responsibility will include the receiving, issuing, delivering, storing and maintenance of inventory supplies for the Aviation Department. Work will include the preparing of requisitions for stock replacement and assisting in maintaining stock records and inventories according to prescribed procedures. Work will also include the receiving of Airport maintenance requests and dispatching assigned work to the appropriate Facilities Maintenance employees.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a business related curriculum or minimum of three years of experience in a computer based inventory control and storeroom environment.
  • Knowledge of various storekeeping and inventory management practices
  • Ability to perform accurate computer based inventory transactions.
  • Ability to use standard computer software
  • Ability to perform clerical work and perform accurate arithmetical calculations.
  • Skills to communicate clearly and effectively verbally in person, over telephone, by two-way radio and in writing.
  • Ability to perform work in a small group environment with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to make minor repairs to tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform manual work in lifting and moving stock.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and other material handling devices.
  • Spends 60% of the time lifting, standing, walking, operating machinery or driving. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • May be exposed to chemicals, fumes, solvents, moving vehicles, machinery, dust, slippery or uneven surfaces and noise.

Nice To Haves

  • Trained in the use of Munis and City Works systems
  • Prior experience in the use and operation of various material handling equipment and devices.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint with capability to design and provide reports and presentations for Aviation Management
  • Prior experience interacting with suppliers and contractors involving inventory management

Responsibilities

  • Work will include defining the inventory requirements of the various functional groups of the Facilities division and proceeding with establishing the proper inventory levels and re-order points for equipment spare parts, supplies, and materials.
  • Managing accurate inventory stock levels and records within the City Works Storeroom’s environment.
  • Examining the current inventory of supplies and materials to look for opportunities for better supplier management and avoid waste.
  • Work with the Aviation department’s current suppliers to improve delivery and price of items required for maintenance.
  • Issues reports as required for analyzing the effective use of Airport funds for inventory supplies.
  • Maintaining the City Works inventory records to ensure accurate inventory records are available.
  • Working with Facilities supervisors to ensure accurate inventory practices are achieved.
  • Create various reports from the Munis and City Works systems to provide information to Facilities management as required.
  • Procurement of emergency supplies for the Aviation departments with the use of PCard or purchase orders.
  • Leading other coworkers in performing physical inventories and inventory cycle counts and other inventory control practices.
  • Creating and documentation of inventory procedures required to establish a superior inventory control environment.
