About The Position

The Dallas Morning News is looking for an enthusiastic journalist with a desire to learn to join our investigations team as a 2026 Ida B. Wells Investigative Reporting intern. An investigative internship at The News offers the opportunity to work closely with a team of nationally award-winning investigative journalists who work hard, have fun and support one another. The right candidate will be a team player who is intellectually curious — are you sure that’s the best way to do that? — and strives to produce journalism that makes a difference. Over the course of 12 weeks, you will be expected to complete at least one solo investigative project developed in collaboration and with guidance from Senior Investigations Editor Alvie Lindsay. You will work in tandem with the other reporters on the investigations team, as well as our data, visual and audience journalists. We expect this to be a fully immersive experience with an opportunity to learn from extremely talented journalists across our newsroom. Working closely in this environment will be essential to development. As such, this is NOT a remote position. The Dallas Morning News is located downtown in the heart of the nation’s fourth-largest metro. Investigative reporting is at the core of our mission. We are a digitally focused newsroom and the winner of nine Pulitzer Prizes. Our flagship website, dallasnews.com [http://dallasnews.com], attracts 8 million to 10 million unique visitors a month. About Hearst Newspapers: With 2,500 employees across the nation, HNP encompasses a network of 24 daily and 52 weekly publications, including the San Francisco Chronicle, Houston Chronicle, San Antonio Express-News and Albany Times Union, several top digital-only news and lifestyle sites, marketing services businesses, and entertainment businesses such as King Features Syndicate. At HNP, we are investing in new and innovative ways to tell stories – growing newsrooms, diversifying tools, evolving platforms – to support the millions of people who trust us each month to help them make decisions, take action and be inspired. Be a part of something bigger – your headline awaits.
