About The Position

The Nebraska State Patrol Crime Laboratory has an exciting opportunity for an entry level IT Business Systems Analyst in an in person role at our newly expanded laboratory. This position offers a rare opportunity to serve the public by supporting the forensic professionals at the Crime Laboratory. You will play a key role in modernizing processes, implementing new technology, and developing initiatives that have a direct impact on the community. This role is ideal if you are someone who is motivated by purpose, creativity, and the opportunity to make a visible difference. You will write queries, create reports, problem solve, manage projects, and assist with supporting laboratory hardware and software. You will collaborate closely with the laboratory staff, customer agencies, and application vendors. The State Crime Laboratory has several specialized software applications that support the laboratory, law enforcement and attorneys state-wide. Requirements

• Post high school coursework, training, or experience in the analysis of business processes and system requirements, and the creation of business process applications.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in computer science or related field.
• Database management, crystal reports , and SQL experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop automated system workflows for processes
• Write queries and create reports using SQL
• Perform system and user acceptance testing
• Strategize to find software solutions for complex processes
• Assess potential process impact as it relates to proposed legislation
• Update current processes to take full advantage of software capabilities
• Integrate system reporting and document business processes
• Develop testing procedures of new or upgraded applications
• Identify improvements in the workflow operation
• Train staff on new technology
• Assist in seeking solutions to hardware and network issues
• Other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification
