About The Position

Specialty Systems, Inc. has an opening for an Information Technologist / Configuration & Management professional to join our team of technical professionals supporting Government customers in development and test lab environments. In this role, you will support the configuration, administration, and technical management of Windows and Linux operating systems, as well as associated hardware and software, with a focus on improving visibility, control, and software configuration management across mission-critical lab systems. This position supports systems used in national security missions, including command and control and other military and intelligence applications, and plays a key role in ensuring systems are properly documented, controlled, and compliant with applicable cybersecurity, operational, and configuration management requirements. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience managing configuration baselines within development and test labs; however, candidates with broader configuration management experience and a strong technical foundation will also be considered. As a member of the Specialty Systems team, you will have the opportunity to directly support Government systems that are critical to mission success. This position is located at our customer site location at Joint Base MDL. In this position, you will work our customer’s Compressed Work Schedule which consists of working four 9hour days (M-Th) and an 8-hour day (F) for the first week of a cycle followed by four 9-hour days (M-Th) and being off on the second Friday for the second week of a cycle. This results in a 3-day weekend every other week!

Requirements

  • Active Secret Clearance required at time of start
  • Minnimum of 3 years of experience supporting IT systems and/or system administration functions
  • Experience with: Configuration and management of Windows operating systems
  • Configuration and management of Linux operating systems
  • System software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Working in environments requiring documentation control and cybersecurity compliance

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Government lab environments and documentation requirements
  • Awareness of cybersecurity requirements and system hardening approaches for controlled environments
  • Technical degree (e.g., IT, engineering, computer science, or related field) preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree

Responsibilities

  • Configure, administer, and manage Windows and Linux operating systems in Government development and test lab environments
  • Support installation, configuration, sustainment, and version control of system software, tools, and supporting applications
  • Establish, maintain, and document hardware and software configuration baselines for lab systems
  • Support software configuration management (SCM) and configuration tracking for development and test environments
  • Assist with configuration planning and management activities to improve visibility and control of lab hardware and software assets
  • Maintain configuration documentation in accordance with Government lab, program, and cybersecurity requirements
  • Support compliance efforts aligned with Government cybersecurity policies and operational standards
  • Troubleshoot operating system–level and system-level issues and coordinate resolution with Government and contractor teams
  • Participate in technical meetings and collaborate with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
  • Contribute to lab documentation, inventories, and formal reporting deliverables as required
