About The Position

The IT Manager is responsible for the operational delivery, reliability, and continual improvement of Subsea Craft’s internal IT services. Sitting within the Enterprise Systems function, the IT Manager ensures that users, devices, and services remain secure, available, and aligned to business needs. The role provides hands‑on technical leadership, manages internal and external support resources, maintains strong service management practices, and works closely with the Head of Information Security to ensure operational compliance with security and governance requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an IT Manager or Senior Systems/IT Administrator role.
  • Strong technical grounding across Windows, macOS, Microsoft 365, and identity management.
  • Confidence working with LAN/WAN networking concepts and diagnosing basic infrastructure issues.
  • Experience managing IT services, including incident, request, and change processes.
  • Ability to lead small teams or mentor junior staff.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with external suppliers and service partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to security frameworks (ISO27001, Cyber Essentials).
  • Experience in regulated or high-assurance environments (defence, engineering, government).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure.
  • Experience supporting hybrid environments (on-premise + SaaS).
  • Scripting or automation experience (e.g., PowerShell).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL Foundation, Microsoft 365 Admin, Network+).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day‑to‑day running of internal IT services, ensuring stability and high levels of performance.
  • Act as the escalation point for incidents, service outages, and complex technical issues.
  • Maintain and refine incident, request, and change processes.
  • Implement and monitor service performance metrics.
  • Manage and mentor the IT Assistant/Administrator, ensuring effective workload management and skills development.
  • Coordinate activities with external IT suppliers and ensure they meet contractual obligations.
  • Engage specialist partners for network, cloud, and infrastructure tasks as required.
  • Oversee identity and access management (e.g., Entra ID).
  • Ensure the effective management of Windows, macOS, and mobile endpoints.
  • Maintain on‑premise infrastructure and networks, escalating complex issues where necessary.
  • Manage device, application, and licence lifecycles.
  • Ensure IT operations comply with organisational policies and security frameworks.
  • Support activities relating to Cyber Essentials, ISO27001, and audit requirements.
  • Oversee endpoint security, configuration standards, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Report and escalate identified risks or security concerns.
  • Identify opportunities to improve IT processes, automation, and service quality.
  • Contribute to IT service roadmaps and operational planning.
  • Analyse recurring issues and implement preventative measures.
  • Maintain accurate inventories for hardware, software, and licences.
  • Keep IT documentation, procedures, and onboarding materials current and accessible.
