About The Position

An IT Project Manager is an individual contributor within their team. They are competent at managing their time, have strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, are able to deliver consistent results, and are self-directed. They do not manage other individuals; however, they are expected to informally mentor junior members within their team. They have a proven ability to lead teams or work streams. As an individual contributor, they are considered to be a member of a group or team focused on delivering business goals by following structured processes and procedures to deliver results. They share responsibility with other team members to ensure on-time product delivery, which requires a clear understanding of expectations and capabilities as well as the ability to act effectively as a team member. They effectively provide direction on complex scenarios that lead to process change. They directly influence the portfolio planning priorities and outcomes. They frequently demonstrate strong coaching skills with a demonstrated ability to mentor and direct others on global process within and outside areas of immediate expertise. Requirements

  • A four year degree or higher in Information Systems Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, a related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 6 years of IT or a related discipline
  • Project Management experience
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
  • Must have a strong systems and process orientation
  • Must be comfortable working remotely and lack of face to face time with colleagues and managers
  • Track record of leading IT project teams
  • Must be able to work without close supervision
  • Self-starter with a commitment to delivering high quality work in a dynamic fast paced environment
  • Proven ability to foster the development of junior team members

Nice To Haves

  • PMP Certification is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ability to communicate with all management levels
  • Works primarily with project team and project leads and project sponsors
  • Interacts with all levels of stakeholders
  • Vendor integration into project activities and involved with vendor management
  • Manages medium/high complexity projects independently typically medium to large ACTs
  • Capable of managing multiple small/medium projects simultaneously across domains, technologies, regions, and SBUs/Functions
  • Identifies and manages project risk
  • Expected to be aware of and understand current industry trends and to recommend application to project management best practices and to PPG Processes
  • Makes recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Leads project teams with minimal coaching and manages all levels of conflict
  • Facilitates project management best practices for project team
  • Emerging ability to influence business personnel of the reasons to adopt recommended solutions through functional and business acumen
