About The Position

The University of Illinois Foundation (Foundation) is the official fundraising and private gift-receiving organization of the University of Illinois (University). It works closely with alumni and friends, faculty and staff, corporations and foundations, as well as campus development professionals to create fundraising programs and opportunities that benefit the University. The IT Support Administrator supports the Foundation's computing environment through deployment, maintenance, and support of endpoint devices, user accounts, and technology services. This role applies enterprise-level knowledge of Windows desktop environments, identity management, and IT service delivery to support Foundation operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of IT experience (or an Associate's degree substituting for one year, or a Bachelor's degree substituting for two years), with hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Active Directory user and group management, along with a working knowledge of desktop deployment, security, automation concepts, and core IT security principles such as access control and authentication.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to engage professionally with end users at all technical levels.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn new technologies and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, with experience using Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune/Configuration Manager) or a similar device management platform.
  • Proficiency or familiarity with PowerShell scripting, TCP/IP networking concepts, and experience working within ticket-based work management systems.
  • Familiarity with the University of Illinois administrative systems and IT environment, including knowledge of university-specific tools such as OnBase or donor management systems.
  • Experience with virtual desktop infrastructure and remote access solutions, with an understanding of fundraising operations or financial services as they relate to higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, maintain, and support end-user devices including desktops, laptops, tablets, and peripherals using device management platforms, and maintain accurate asset inventory for all computing equipment.
  • Assist with Active Directory and Azure AD administration, including user accounts, security groups, Group Policy Objects, and endpoint security through patch management and configuration standards.
  • Provision and manage user accounts and access controls across Foundation, university, and cloud systems, including collaboration with UIUC IAM staff and serving as the Foundation Security Contact for Pinnacle.
  • Conduct access audits, implement remediation actions, and document identity and access management procedures to ensure compliance and security standards are met.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support by responding to help desk tickets in a timely and professional manner, resolving issues for users in office, remote, and home office environments.
  • Support network file services, cloud storage solutions, print infrastructure, and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams, including basic permissions management.
  • Maintain and support audiovisual equipment and conference room technologies, and travel occasionally to remote Foundation offices to provide hands-on technical assistance.
  • Conduct IT orientations for new employees and assist with the recruitment, training, and supervision of student employees.
  • Collaborate with IT Operations team members and participate in campus technology working groups to improve processes, share knowledge, and contribute to departmental initiatives.
  • Work independently with sound judgment and problem-solving skills, pursue continuing professional development, and maintain regular communication with the IT Operations Manager.
