About The Position

The System Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing the healthcare organization’s IT infrastructure, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. This role involves supporting clinical and administrative systems, safeguarding patient data, and ensuring high availability of critical applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3 plus years of experience in system administration (healthcare experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, networking, and virtualization.
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT standards (HIPAA).
  • Experience with EHR systems (Meditech, Cerner, etc.)
  • Experience designing, planning, deploying, documenting, maintenance & diagnosing of switch, route, DHCP, DNS, NTP, Wireless, NGFW, ADC, WAN, IP Voice & Video, & Copper/Fiber Cabling.
  • Design & development in interfaces and interoperability solutions for mixed network environments (virtual networks, Linux / Windows & integration techniques)
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • System Maintenance & Administration; install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and healthcare applications.
  • Monitor system performance and apply updates and patches regularly.
  • Healthcare Application Support; manage Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and other clinical software.
  • Ensure interoperability between healthcare systems and third-party applications.
  • Security & Compliance; implement and maintain HIPAA-compliant security measures.
  • Manage user access controls, encryption, and audit trails.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans.
  • Data Backup & Disaster Recovery; develop and maintain backup strategies for patient and organizational data.
  • Test and update disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
  • Network & Infrastructure Management; maintain network connectivity and troubleshoot issues.
  • Manage virtualization environments and storage systems.
  • User Support & Training; provide Tier 2/3 technical support for clinical and administrative staff.
  • Train users on secure and efficient use of healthcare IT systems.
  • Monitoring & Reporting; use monitoring tools to track system health and uptime.
  • Prepare compliance and performance reports for management.
