About The Position

This is professional IT infrastructure work focused on the installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of enterprise systems in a primarily Windows Server environment, including systems hosted in VMware. The position helps meet end-user and business needs by ensuring uptime, performance, availability, and security of servers and core services within established operational guidelines. Work includes responding to escalated incidents from first-level support; administering identity, server, messaging, and core network services; monitoring logs and hardware indicators; applying standard changes; and supporting backup and disaster recovery activities. Routine tasks may be automated through scripting to improve reliability and reduce manual effort. Work is performed under the supervision of the IT Infrastructure Manager and is reviewed through conferences, documentation, and evaluation of results obtained.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education, relevant certifications, and experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in IT system administration or closely related infrastructure support roles.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting: Windows Server administration (install/configure/maintain/troubleshoot), Microsoft Active Directory, Enterprise systems monitoring and incident response practices
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server administration concepts (services, patching, permissions, event logs, performance).
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and account/security permission management.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, routing/switching fundamentals).
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills; able to isolate root cause using logs, monitoring tools, and systematic testing.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and adapt quickly in a changing environment.
  • Strong customer service mindset with clear written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills; able to produce clear tickets, runbooks, and step-by-step procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with peers, project teams, and management; collaborates well across business and IT teams.
  • Demonstrated care with change control and operational discipline

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting one or more of the following: VMware virtualization administration/operations, Microsoft Exchange and/or Microsoft 365 administration, Backup/restore operations and basic DR testing, IIS and/or Microsoft SQL Server (basic admin/troubleshooting), Endpoint protection / systems management tools (as used by the organization)
  • Certifications (preferred): CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+, Microsoft role-based certs aligned to Windows Server / identity / M365 (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Performs common administration tasks for users, computers, and groups in Active Directory (provisioning, changes, deprovisioning).
  • Monitors Active Directory health and assists with remediation of replication, authentication, or policy-related issues.
  • Reviews and responds to security events related to identity and access; follows established escalation and documentation practices.
  • Maintains and supports Group Policy structure to secure servers, desktops, and laptops (baseline settings, hardening, updates).
  • Supports the design, operation, and monitoring of DNS, DHCP (and other assigned directory/network services).
  • Assists with troubleshooting name resolution, address assignment, and related service interruptions affecting applications and users.
  • Installs, configures, administers, and monitors Windows Server systems (including patching, service configuration, performance checks).
  • Assists with administration and monitoring of the VMware environment (VM provisioning, resource monitoring, snapshot coordination, basic troubleshooting).
  • Helps plan for/respond to outages and participates in root-cause follow-up (problem management).
  • Designing and updating visual dial plans. This includes managing auto-attendants (IVRs), ring groups, and time-based routing schedules to ensure calls are handled correctly across various office locations or remote setups.
  • Managing the full lifecycle of users, assigning softphone licenses and provisioning physical desk phones via MAC addresses.
  • Assists with administering Microsoft Exchange and/or Microsoft 365 services as assigned.
  • Monitors messaging service health and responds to incidents, outages, and capacity/performance issues.
  • Ensures backups are operating as designed; reviews job status and supports remediation of failed jobs.
  • Assists with disaster recovery planning, documentation, and testing, including restore validation activities.
  • Assists with administration/monitoring of enterprise storage systems (e.g., SAN) as assigned.
  • Monitors assigned security alerts/logs and followed procedures for investigation, containment, and escalation.
  • Supports endpoint/server protection tooling and standard security configuration baselines.
  • Implements least privilege, separation of duties, and secure administrative practices.
  • Automates routine tasks using scripting (e.g., PowerShell) and maintains reusable admin scripts/tools.
  • Maintains accurate documentation (runbooks, system diagrams, change records, standard procedures).
  • Recommends future design initiatives and improvements to increase reliability, security, and manageability.
  • Works directly with IT peers, project teams, vendors, and court personnel to resolve issues and communicate impacts.
  • Uses the ITSM/ticketing system to document work, time, resolution steps, and follow-up actions.
