About The Position

As the IT Systems Administrator Manager for the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS), you will be responsible for enterprise systems governance, operational risk management, and integrated service delivery for CAHNRS. As a senior-level management position, you will be required to exercise delegated authority over systems administration operations, customer support services, and institutional technology risk decisions impacting faculty, staff, students, research, Extension, and statewide operations. As a manager of assigned staff, you will be responsible for ensuring that system administration and customer support staff are properly supervised using proven leadership and IT management skills sets. This includes establishing direction, priorities, standards, and accountability for systems and support teams. Limited hands-on technical involvement may occur only for executive-level escalations, validation of high-risk changes, emergency response, or to support informed risk acceptance decisions. As the designated Area Technology Officer (ATO), you will represent the college in WSU IT governance bodies and exercises formal responsibility for reviewing and accepting information technology security risk in coordination with university stakeholders. You will report directly to the Director of CAHNRS Operations and operates with broad autonomy within established institutional frameworks. In this role, you will oversee technology operations supporting a large, distributed college environment, including academic units, research programs, Extension offices, and statewide locations. Decisions made in this role directly impact enterprise system availability, security posture, regulatory compliance, and the continuity of instruction, research, and administrative operations. You will influence service delivery for thousands of users and manages systems and services that support mission-critical academic, research, and operational functions across CAHNRS.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in enterprise IT systems administration or infrastructure operations.
  • Minimum three years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Demonstrated decision-making authority over complex IT operations and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent organizational interests in governance settings.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing IT teams in higher education or distributed enterprise environments.
  • Experience integrating systems administration and customer support operations.
  • Project management training or certification.
