The position involves performing a variety of tasks surrounding the set-up and operation of a machine that applies a dust jacket to the outside of a book, as well as directing the workers on this machine.

Requirements

• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively to all work groups.
• Ability to read, do basic math and work with basic tools (screw drivers, wrenches, etc).
• Basic computer skills to work with Windows type applications.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to do basic trouble shooting when the equipment is not functioning.
• High School diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Read job tickets and follow instructions.
• Set up and operate the jacket and carton machine according to job specifications, along with all safety, quality, productivity, and other bindery processes.
• Supervise the crew for safety, quality and machine productivity.
• Perform preventative maintenance measures as assigned.
• Perform General Worker duties when not assigned to operate a machine.
• Comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Monitor machine for hazards and report any safety related concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.
