TITLE: Janitor APPROVED 05/13/24 RATE: $17.52 BUILDING: MIHS / DISTRICT WIDE SHIFT/TIME : SATURDAY, 1ST SHIFT 6:00AM - 2:30PM TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, 2ND SHIFT 2:30PM - 11:00PM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. High School Diploma or GED, required. 2. Knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment. 3. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others. 4. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. 5. Ability to lift and move heavy objects. 6. Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Custodial Service Manager or Superintendent Designee JOB GOAL: Provide students/staff with a safe and clean learning and working environment. Assist with identifying communicating, repairing, and moving equipment or facility damage. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors. Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all areas of the building. Empty trash receptacles and replace liners. Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces. Dust and wipe down surfaces such as desks, vents, lighting fixtures, lockers, tables, countertops, and computers. Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs or fixing minor plumbing issues. Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Respond to requests from staff regarding cleaning and minor maintenance issues. Input work order if issue identified is not within scope of job responsibilities. Adhere to district policies and procedures regarding cleanliness and hygiene standards. Any other duties assigned by the Superintendent or their designee. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to sit, talk, or hear. Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and move quickly when necessary to promote student learning and/or safety. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to push items of 50 lbs. such as pushing children in a wheelchair or moving/rearranging furniture. SENSORY ABILITY Ability to speak clearly and distinctly. Auditory acuity to be able to use telephone. Visual acuity to read correspondence and computer screen. WORK ENVIRONMENT Indoor and outdoor environments. TEMPERAMENT Ability to work as a member of a team. Must be courteous. Must be cooperative, congenial, service-oriented, and promote these qualities in the building. Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions. COGNITIVE ABILITY Ability to follow written and verbal directions. Ability to demonstrate good written and verbal skills.
