About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within assigned facilities. This role supports daily operations by performing routine cleaning, sanitization, and light maintenance tasks to ensure facilities are welcoming and compliant with health and safety standards. The Custodian works independently or as part of a team and contributes to overall facility appearance and functionality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, storage requirements, and disposal methods
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet cleaners
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness standards
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Physical stamina to perform routine custodial tasks
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods
  • Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals and custodial equipment
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat and cold

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting floors and surfaces
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and fixtures
  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles and ensure proper disposal
  • Clean windows, glass doors, desks, tables, windowsills, and common areas
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and breakroom areas
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify cleaning or maintenance needs
  • Replenish custodial supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
  • Report maintenance concerns or safety hazards to the Custodial Project Manager
  • Assist with light maintenance tasks, including changing light bulbs and minor repairs
  • Support setup and cleanup for meetings, events, and special projects
  • Perform seasonal duties such as snow removal and salting walkways, as required
  • Follow established cleaning schedules, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Safely operate and store cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment
  • Maintain organized custodial storage areas
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned
